SWIMMING FOR A CURE

Over the October half term 2011 Robert, aged 12, and his brother Jeremy, aged 8, did a sponsored swim in aid of the HD Research labs.  Robert swam 11 miles, equivalent to half the Channel, in groups of 100 lengths. That is 708 lengths in total! His younger brother Jeremy, swam a very impressive 2 miles.

As a special thank you for all their hard work we invited the boys and their family to come and have a look around one of our diagnostic labs and to meet some of the research team on February 14th. The boys got to see how blood samples are processed for DNA testing and also got to see some brain scans and learn a bit about how we use them for our research. We then held a ceremony for the boys where they presented Professor Sarah Tabrizi with a cheque for an incredible £610.

Well done boys we are all very proud of you and extremely grateful for all your hard work! Also thank you to everyone who sponsored the boys for helping to make this wonderful achievement possible.
